About your guitar
As you have now taken the step of owning a guitar which is a blend of wood, metal and other materials, here are some general hints and tips on keeping it in first class condition and setting it up to make your playing and sound as good as it possibly can be.

General Maintenance
If treated with the respect which any musical instrument deserves, your guitar should last you a lifetime, however there are a few simple guidelines you can follow to ensure that this is the case. Try to avoid extremes of temperature as heat makes natural materials expand and cold makes them contract. A useful guide is to think that if you are uncomfortable with the temperature, then your guitar probably will be too!
If you can remember to always wipe down the guitar after playing. Removing moisture from the metal parts will keep them rust and corrosion free. To maximise the life of the strings, run a clean, dry cloth along the length of each string after playing and remove as much of the grime which forms on the underside of the strings above the frets.
Change the strings regularly. If they feel tacky or dull and are hard to keep in tune, then it is time for a change.
Periodically use a light sheen of furniture polish on the guitar body to remove fingermarks etc.
